Boalsburg's 144th Annual Memorial Day Celebration

The Village of Boalsburg will celebrate Memorial Day for the 144th time with a day of activities and a ceremony of remembrance on May 26th.

Boalsburg is widely known as the birthplace of Memorial Day. The first celebration was held in 1864, when three townswomen gathered in the cemetery to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. The tradition is now carried on by local Girl Scout Troop 1184. More>

 
The Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts

The Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts will be held on May 23rd from 6-10 and May 24th.

The Festival originated three years ago when the Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities saw the heritage history slipping away in their area. More>
